Best friends, one holiday and something extra in the suitcase.
We are best friends who set off to Spain together. The plan was simple: switch off for a while, eat well and not worry much about what time it is. Starting an olive oil brand was not really on the list.
01 The holiday
Bread, tomato and one bottle.
Over every meal, though, we kept coming back to one thing. How can plain bread with tomato taste this good? There was always a bottle of olive oil on the table and we reached for it more and more often. In the end we packed a few bottles for the way home. Some for us, some for the family.
02 Back home
Friends kept asking for more.
At home we started putting the oil on almost everything. On eggs, into salad, on toasted bread. When friends came over, we put it on the table and let them taste. Soon we were getting messages asking whether we had another bottle left. We did not. And nobody was heading to Spain any time soon.
So we started finding out how to get it here. We wrote, tasted, compared, and step by step put together Jugo de Oliva.
03 Why we do it
A bottle that belongs next to the stove.
We want good virgin olive oil to have its place in your kitchen too. Next to the stove, within reach, a little greasy from cooking. So that you do not mind opening it on an ordinary Tuesday, when you are making something quick for dinner.
We got used to it pretty quickly. And that is exactly the joy we want to share.
